It’s been one full year since I opened the doors to my shop and what a year it has been. It started off great with a fabulous opening weekend in December 2019. It was a beautiful December day and so many people stopped in to help me celebrate and check out the shop. I was in awe of the love and support from everyone!
A visit to market in January was again a wonderful experience to check out all the new home décor merchandise and furniture available to retailers. It was overwhelming and exciting at the same time and I was super thankful to have my bestie join me on this trip to help make some tough decisions, pick out some cool merch, and catch up on the latest home décor trends.
The effects of Covid really started to impact business in March. So many small businesses had a tough time due to restrictions and some businesses shut down for a period of time. As a precaution, I closed my doors for about a month or so and then opened up again taking extra measures to try to keep it a safe shopping environment for everyone. While it was disappointing that most of the town’s festivals and events were cancelled, I think we all understand that it is safer to avoid crowds and events until we know it is safe again. This is an ongoing struggle but we need to do what is best to keep everyone healthy & safe.
Overall, I consider it to have been a successful first year. Customers trickled in throughout the year and I met some really awesome & interesting people. I have learned quite a bit about what merchandise customers are looking for and I love sharing the history of the building with anyone who is interested. I also had fun discovering new products for the shop and being able to help people find that perfect piece for their home. My hope is to continue to offer unique & interesting home décor and gift choices.
great to hear about your first year and wishing the best in the years to come. Below I don’t know what is means by follow up comments. Therefore don’t know if I should say yes to that I know I want to get new posts,
